Dharana on the crown of the head, Sri Vijnan Bhairav
Shiv says:

कपालान्तर्मनो न्यस्य तिष्ठन्मीलितलोचन:|
क्रमेण मनसो दाढर्यात् लक्षयेल्लक्ष्यमुतमम् || 34 ||

Anvay
Kapaalaantah : crown of the head; Manah: mind; Nyasya : fixing attention; Tishthan meelita: having closed; Iachanah: eyes; Kramena : successively; Manasah : of the mind; Daardhyaat : stable, stability; lakshayet: concentrate; Lakshyam uttamam: eminently discernible, towards the highest goal.

Translation
Dear Parvati, having closed the eyes and fixing the attention at the crown of the head, gradually stabilize the mind and direct it towards the highest goal. The true goals of life will become eminently discernible (you will know yourself!).

Crown of the head is the seat of sahasrara chakra, which is the abode of supreme consciousness. After closing your eyes, be attentive to all your thoughts, and sounds coming from all directions. The process of dharana involves being fully aware of something and holding it in the mind for a length of time so that the awareness is full and total. While we are fully aware of the subject, we start becoming fully aware of ourselves.

Here the attention is fixed at the crown of the head, seat of sahasrara chakra. Chakra means ‘wheel’ or something that emanates or absorbs energy. Sahasra means ‘a thousand’; So, sahasrara chakra is a wheel with a thousand spokes. These spokes have also been poetically conceptualized as the thousand petals of a lotus.

Sahasrara chakra is the abode of Shiva, the supreme consciousness; it represents the convergence of all the main nadis, so the number one thousand is given. By abode it does not mean that Shiva lives here and nowhere else. Shiva consciousness is all-pervasive. It is everywhere, in every cell, atom and molecule of your body. Sahasrara is said to be the abode of Shiva because this is the point where the supreme consciousness is realized.

This Dharana meditation involves closing the doors to sensory perception and fixing the attention at the crown of the head. In this way the mind becomes stable and starts observing itself. It is more aware. As the awareness deepens, one becomes fully awareness of oneself through the crown of the head. It’s recollection of our true self and a meditative state occurs
