It literally means listening to internal sound or sound patterns that are coming from within our body or consciousness. This dharana meditations involves observing the internal vibrations of the mind, body and awareness. It is very good for peace of mind and mindfulness. It starts with producing humming sounds and then getting absorbed in observing the vibrations. The vibrations could be in the form of whilsting , sound of air, sound of silence or some kind of musical sound. It is very effective in cleansing of the mind. It becomes more effective if it is done in combination with some of the yogic breathing based practices (Bhramari Praanayam) .
